The clock’s dial features a silvered chapter ring over a thick brass plate. At each of the four corners of the dial gilded brass Spandrels are attached using the methods of the late nineteenth century. The hand painted moon phase dial is in excellent condition, and features two very detailed moons over a background of night sky and stars. The clock also features a true seconds sub dial and a date window displaying the seconds and date.
The time and strike movement of the clock is of German manufacture. The plates are made from clockmaker’s brass { no longer available } which are approximately three millimeters thick. The thickness of these plates is noteworthy because it shows fine craftsmanship that prevents wear to the moving parts of the movement. This clock was constructed with precision and care that is scarce in the present day.
